Power Apps Tutorials: Learn Canvas Apps Step by Step

This page lists all 206 Power Apps tutorials on EnjoySharePoint, grouped by task. They are written by Preeti Sahu (Microsoft MVP, Power Apps) and Bijay Kumar (13-time Microsoft MVP), and every example is built and tested in a real app.

What is Power Apps?

Power Apps is a suite of apps, services, connectors and a data platform for building custom business apps. Apps connect to Microsoft Dataverse or to many online and on-premises sources such as SharePoint, SQL Server and Dynamics 365.

What is current in Power Apps (2026)

  • Delegation: when a query cannot be delegated to the data source, Power Apps processes only the first 500 records by default. You can raise the limit to a maximum of 2,000 in Settings (Microsoft Learn). Read how to overcome delegation warnings.
  • Modern controls based on Fluent 2 are available in canvas apps (Settings > Updates > New). Some of them, such as the modern Table and Dropdown, are still in preview.
  • Generative pages create React-based pages for model-driven apps from a natural-language description (limited regions and English prompts for the in-browser experience).
  • Licensing: the former per-user plan is now called Power Apps Premium. Microsoft 365 licenses include limited use rights with standard connectors such as SharePoint (Microsoft Learn).
  • Free for learning: the Power Apps Developer Plan is free with a work or school account, for development and testing. It includes Dataverse and premium connectors, 750 flow runs a month and a 2 GB database.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a canvas app and a model-driven app?

A canvas app starts from the user experience: you design every screen and can connect to more than 200 data sources, including SharePoint. A model-driven app starts from Dataverse tables, and its screens are generated from forms, views and business processes.

What is Power Fx?

Power Fx is the low-code formula language of the Power Platform. It uses Excel-like formulas, is strongly typed and declarative, and is open source.

What is delegation in Power Apps?

Delegation means the data source does the filtering and sorting. When a formula cannot be delegated, Power Apps only works with the first 500 records by default, which you can raise to 2,000 in the app settings.

Can I learn Power Apps for free?

Yes. The Power Apps Developer Plan is free for anyone with a work or school account. It is for development and testing, and includes Dataverse and premium connectors.

Do I need a premium license to build apps on SharePoint lists?

Not usually. Microsoft 365 licenses include limited Power Apps use rights with standard connectors, and SharePoint is a standard connector. Premium connectors and Dataverse need Power Apps Premium or another premium license.
