Unfortunately, Power BI’s built-in Funnel chart cannot be displayed horizontally. However, this limitation can be overcome by utilizing a custom visual, such as ‘Horizontal Funnel by MAQ Software‘ and ‘Executive Funnel Chart a.k.a Horizontal Funnel Chart by Inforiver Analytics+’.
Also, we will see how to add two measures to the Power BI funnel chart.
Horizontal Funnel Chart in Power BI Using Inforiver Analytics+
Here we will see how to create a horizontal funnel chart using the Executive funnel chart in Power BI.
I will use the sample data below to create a Power BI horizontal funnel chart using the custom visuals.

From this table, we will show customers for each Sales stage in the Horizontal funnel chart in Power BI.
- Log in to Power BI Desktop and then load the data to Power BI using the get data option.
- We will add the custom visual; to do this, click on the … button and then select the ‘Get more visual’ option.

- Power BI visuals marketplace will open; from here, select Inforiver Analytics+.

Now you can see the detailed information about the Inforiver Analytics +. Then click on the Add button.

Once it gets imported successfully, you can see the below success dialog box.

- Select the ‘Inforiver Analytics +‘ from the visualization pane. You can see it gets added to the canvas.

- Next, drag and drop the Sales Stage and Number of customers to Axis and Values, respectively.

Then click on the Chart type and select the Executive funnel chart under Special in Power BI.

Then click on the Sort icon, in the Sort window, select the sort type as Ascending and select the By as ‘Sum of NUmber of Customers’.

Now, you can see the custom horizontal funnel chart in Power BI.

Here we will see how to create a horizontal chart in Power BI.
To create a horizontal funnel chart in Power BI, we will use the below sales table.

From the above table, we will use the Sales and Product category column to show sales based on the Product category in the Power BI funnel chart.
Follow the below steps to create a horizontal funnel chart in Power BI.
- In Power BI Desktop, load the data to Power BI using the get data option.
- We will add the custom visual, for this click on the … button, and then select the ‘Get more visual’ option.

Now, the Power BI visuals marketplace window will open, and here we will search ‘horizontal’.

For example, we have the sales table below. We will create two measures: average Sales and Average Profit. Then, we will use the Horizontal funnel chart to show average sales and profit based on the Product category.

- In Power BI Desktop, load the above table using the Get Data option.
- Then click on the New Measure in Power BI to calculate the Average Sales as shown below.
Average Sales = AVERAGE(Sales[Sales])
- Once more, click on the New Measure in Power BI to calculate the Average Profit as shown below.
Average Profit = AVERAGE(Sales[Profit])
- Next, add the horizontal funnel chart to the canvas of Power BI.
- You can see the blank horizontal funnel chart in Power BI.

- Now, drag and drop the Average Sales, Average Profit, and Product Category to the primary measure, secondary measure, and series, respectively.
