In this tutorial, I will explain everything about the Office 365 E5 plan and provide key information you should know about it.
Office 365 E5 (no Teams) Plan
According to Microsoft, Office 365 E5 is a cloud-based suite of Microsoft 365 productivity apps combined with advanced voice, analytics, security, and compliance services.

Features of the Office 365 E5 Plan
- The Office E5 plan includes services such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and OneDrive, among others. These are the services you can install on PC, Mac, and SmartPhones.
- You can install these apps on up to five PCs or Macs, five tablets, and five mobile devices per user.
- It also includes premium services such as SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, Yammer, Power BI, and Microsoft Copilot, among others.
- Users will also get a 100GB mailbox
- For the trial plan, you can add up to 25 users, but no more.
- The Office 365 E5 Plan is not available in all countries, such as India. For the United States, it is available.
Office 365 E5 Trial Subscription
Before proceeding with the sign-up steps, please note the following very important points.
- You need to have a school or work account for the trial.
- It will ask you to enter the payment details.
- You need to provide a valid mobile number as it will ask you for verification to proceed.
- The free trial will be automatically converted to a paid annual subscription after one month. To avoid charges, you must cancel at least 30 days in advance through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
Follow the steps to sign up.
- Click on this URL and then click on “Try for free” as shown in the screenshot below.

- In the next screen, it will display the “Subscription & Account Details” screen. It will ask questions such as:
- How many people is this for?
- Choose the length of your subscription (1 year or 1 month)
- How often do you want to be billed?
- It will also show you the order summary.

- Then it will ask you to provide your work or school email address to start. You can see the screenshot below for reference.

- If the email address is correct, then you will be shown the option to change the email or to set up account like below:

- Then, it will display the “Tell us about yourself” screen, which will ask for personal details, company details, address details, and other relevant information.

- Make sure to enter a valid mobile number, as it will be used for a security check like below.

- Then, provide a name that will serve as the domain name, which will also be the tenant name for Office 365. (The below screens might be slightly changed based on the updated UI)

- Then in the next screen, create a user like below, which will be the tenant admin for the Office 365 tenant admin.

- Then, click on “Sign up,” and after a few minutes, a successful message will appear, similar to the one below. Make sure to save the username and password.

- Then you can see it will ask you for the Office 365 E5 setup page, here you can just click on the Exit and continue later. To set up a custom domain, you can configure it on this screen.

- Then, you can access the Office 365 admin center, where you can add users, groups, and other settings.
