One of my clients requested to extract data from a web part to an Excel file using Power Automate Desktop. In this tutorial, I will explain how to extract data from any web page using Power Automate Desktop with two different examples.
Extract Data from a Web Page using Power Automate Desktop
I wanted to extract data from a web page [Amazon – Power Automate books].
Here are the steps to extract data from a web page using Power Automate Desktop:
- Open the Power Automate desktop app-> Click on the + New button -> Select Flow -> Provide a name for the flow in the Create a flow dialogue box. Then, click on the Create button.

- Then, it will open a separate window where you can drag and drop the actions to the workspace designer.

- Now, open your Chrome browser and search for ‘Amazon’ to access the Amazon website. Search for Power Automate Books.

- On to the Power Automate workspace, search for Launch new Chrome action. It will be presented under Browser automation. Drag and drop it to the workspace.

- Next, configure the properties of Launch new Chrome as given below.
- Launch mode: Select the “Attach to running instance” option.
- Attach to Chrome tab: Choose the By title option from the drop-down.
- Tab title: Click on drop-down -> Select the “Amazon.in:Power Automate Books”.
Then, click on Save to save the details.

- Next, under the Actions pane, search for and add the “Extract data from web page” action to the workspace.

- This will open a Live web helper – extract data from a web page.

From the Amazon web page, I want to extract the Book Title and Author names into Excel. The Live web helper will produce a red border.
- Go to your Chrome tab, where you opened it, and focus on the book title. Right-click the mouse, select “Extract element value,” and then select the text. You can follow the GIF below for your reference.

- Then, in the “Extract data from web page” action, the extracted values will be added. Set the properties as below:
- Web bowser instance: It will be automatically selected. You can also select from the drop-down.
- Store data mode: Select “Excel spreadsheet”.

- Now, let’s close the Chrome browser by adding the “Close web browser” action. The Web browser instance will be taken by default. Click on Save.

- The flow is ready now. Click on the Save icon and run the flow.

- When the flow runs successfully, you can see the Excel sheet with the data extracted from web page. Take a look at the reference image.
