Now, we will check the Visual Studio 2012 installation steps. Once you download Visual Studio 2012 double click on the setup (exe) file. Visual Studio 2012 will be required around 9GB hard disk space.

Step-1:
In the first step, chose the path and also check the terms and conditions checkbox and click on Next as shown in the figure below.

Step-2:
Select if you want to install some of the optional features if you want to install as shown in the figure below and then click INSTALL.

Step-3:
Then the installation will start as shown in the figure below

Step-4:
Then it will ask you to restart the machine as shown in the figure below. After a restart, the installation will automatically resume.

Step-5:
After restart, the installation will resume and give a successful message as in the figure below. Click on LAUNCH if you want to launch Visual Studio 2012.

Then it will ask you to choose the default environment settings as shown in the figure below, here I have chosen Visual C# Development Settings. Then click on Start Visual Studio.

There are 2 ways we can set the start page in visual studio. 1st approach is very simple and we are very much familiar with it. The other approach we usually useless.

1st Approach:
From the Solution Explorer Right-click on the page which you want to make the start page and then select “Set As Start Page” as shown in the fig below:

2nd Approach:
From the Solution Explorer, Right-click on the Project and Property Pages. This will open the Property Pages dialog box.

There select the Start Options from the left side and from the right side you can choose “Specific page” radio button. Then you can select the page which you want to make the start page as shown in the fig below:

Change browser in visual studio 2012

Now, we will see how to change the browser while debugging application in visual studio 2012. It is different from the visual studio 2010.

Previously only the Browser icon appears while we trying to debug. But in Visual Studio 2012, there is an option to browse with a different browser. Follow the figure below.

Similarly, if you want to add a new browser then click on Browse with… This will open the Browser with the dialog box as shown in the figure below. It shows all the browsers as well as the option to Add a new browser.

To add a new browser click on Add.. And this will open the Add program dialog box as shown in the figure below. Provide the Programs, Arguments and Friendly name and click on OK.

ASP.NET Web Site (Razor):
This creates a website that uses the ASP.NET Model-View-Controller (MVC) approach, rather than the web forms model.

ASP.NET Empty Web Site:
This creates a nearly empty website.

ASP.NET Dynamic Data Entities Web Site:
This creates an ASP.NET website that uses the ASP.NET Dynamic Data feature.

WCF Service:
This creates a WCF service.

ASP.NET Reports Web Site:
This creates an ASP.NET website that uses ReportView control and SQL Server Reporting Services.

Commenting in Visual Studio in C#.Net

Now we will see, different ways to comment lines of code in asp.net c#.net using visual studio.

C#.Net provides 3 types of commenting in visual studio.

1- Single line commenting:
C#.Net provides // symbol to comment on a single line of code.
Example:

// int a = 0;

2- Multiline commenting:
C#.Net provides /* and */ for multiple commenting.
Example:

int b = 1;
int result = a + b; */

3- XML style commenting:
XML comments always start with three slashes.
This type of commenting usually used to describe the code like it can be used in describing the class or methods.
