In this post, we will discuss how to do a workaround to resolve the issue which comes when we directly try to access the save as template URL in SharePoint 2013.
Save site as template option will not come in site settings page in SharePoint 2013 if the site is a publishing site or publishing features are activated in the site. One way the workaround is we can access the save template page url directly.

But when we try to access the below URL, we received the below error message which says:
Sorry, Something went wrong.
The “Save site as template” action is not supported on this site.
To solve this issue we have to enable the SaveSiteAsTemplateEnabled property. We can do this using PowerShell like below:
$web = Get-SPWeb https://Site URL/
$web.AllProperties[“SaveSiteAsTemplateEnabled”] = “true”
Or we can enable this property in SharePoint designer also.
Open the site using SharePoint 2013 designer. From the ribbon click on Site Options as shown in the fig below:
Then in the site options set SaveSiteAsTemplateEnabled as true.
Now if you will try to access the site by using the URL, you should not get the error.
