Here we will learn to create a custom list and add column to the list in SharePoint with example.

Example 1: Course Information

In a course information list, we can store details about various courses.

I will show you first how to create a SharePoint Online list as well as how to add a column to the SharePoint list.

  • Open SharePoint site
  • Navigate to Site content.
  • Click on the New icon, then you can create a list by clicking on List or clicking on App -> Custom List( i am using App to create a custom list in SharePoint Online).

  • Then give a name to the custom List (e.g courses).
  • Click on create

  • Then inside Site content click on your list i.e. Course List.

  • Inside courses, Click on the Add column, add columns with column’s type in the course list in SharePoint. There are 6 columns with column type in the Course list in SharePoint.

  • Click on a single line of text.

  • Type the column name, and give a description.
  • Click on Save.

  • In the same way, add the other columns to the SharePoint list.
  • After adding the column, click on the new icon, to fill the data in each column of the SharePoint list.

  • Enter the data in every field, see the below example to enter data.
  • Click on Save.

In the above way, you can enter data/items in columns of the SharePoint list. Now you can view the column holding items/data in the SharePoint list.

Example 2: Vacation Request

We can create a vacation requests list to store details when an employee in an organization applied for a vacation.

The vacation request list can contain the below 6 columns with the below column type.

    Is this possible, if we can give a sub header under the name of the list and that sub header is basically a hyperlink.
    For ex: under “Doctor Appointment” list name, can we give a sub header “For more info click here”

    Please help me with this, if sub header is not possible then is it possible to add a tile which has hyper link?
