SharePoint 2013 web part adder section not appearing wpadder was missing

SharePoint 2013 web part adder section not appearing wpadder was missing

In this web part, we will discuss how we can resolve the wpadder was missing an issue in SharePoint 2013. When we are trying to add a web part by clicking on Add a web part link, the web part section did not appear in the ribbon. Here we were using a custom master page in our site and these sites we were migrating from moss 2007 to SharePoint 2013 using database upgrade approach.

When we click on Add a web part link, the below web part adder section was not appearing.

For this reason, people were not able to add a web part to the page after editing the page. The wpadder is not loaded after clicking on “Add a web part” link in the page.

If you are using custom master page, then first of all check if below tag is present there or not. We have checked and the below tag was there in the master page.

<div id=”WebPartAdderUpdatePanelContainer”>
<asp:UpdatePanel ID=”WebPartAdderUpdatePanel” UpdateMode=”Conditional” ChildrenAsTriggers=”false”
runat=”server”>
<ContentTemplate>
<WebPartPages:WebPartAdder ID=”WebPartAdder” runat=”server”/>
</ContentTemplate>
<Triggers>
<asp:PostBackTrigger ControlID=”WebPartAdder” />
</Triggers>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
</div>

The we saw the .ms-core-webpartadder css class and we saw difference between our testing environment and our production environment.

Prod CSS class:
.ms-core-webpartadder
{
position:absolute;
top:135px;
left:0px;
width:100%;
}

Stg CSS class:
.ms-core-webpartadder
{
position:absolute;
top:135px;
left:0px;
width:100%;
z-index:100;
}

The changes was there in the corev15.css file which was there in the layouts directory.

So when we add z-index:100; property in the .ms-core-webpartadder css class it started working.

Hope this will be helpful.
