In this post we will see how to show favicon in Asp.Net web site.

You can also check my previous posts on WCF interview questions and answers in C#.Net, Left outer join and Right outer join in SQL Server and Array and ArrayList in C#.Net.

Favicon ususally appears in the browser like below figure.

Favicon is .ico file which will be having size 16*16 pixcel.

First put the favicon.ico file inside the root directory.

To display in master page you have to write like below in the page inside<head> </head> tag.

<link runat=”server” rel=”shortcut icon” href=”favicon.ico” type=”image/x-icon”/>

<link runat=”server” rel=”icon” href=”favicon.ico” type=”image/ico”/>

If you are using master page, then rather than putting in every pages, put it only in the master page.
