In this PowerApps tutorial, we will see an overview of PowerApps, and how to create a portal in PowerApps from blank.
In late 2019, Microsoft released the new PowerApps called Portals which will help us to allow organizations to create websites that can be shared with users external to their organization either anonymously or through the login provider of their choice like LinkedIn, Microsoft Account, other commercial login providers.
But here Microsoft applied a few restrictions for trial users, If you are using the trial version of Office 365 then you might be able to create only one portal site in your tenant and the validity is only 30 days.
Create a portal in PowerApps
Now, let us check step by step how to create a portal in PowerApps.
Step 1: Log in to your PowerApps and go to the Portal and create a new Portal from blank.
Step 2: Next You have to provide the Portal Name, Description, and set the Language and click on Create.
Step 3: Once you click on Create, it will take a maximum of 10 minutes to create the portal so we have to wait till that time until unless we are not getting any alert like “Portal created Successfully”.
Next, open the site which is created recently. It will automatically open in Edit mode. So here their different section is available.
- Header
- Page Layouts which contain information of the page
- Footer
Step 4: In the left side, you will get all components that are ready to use. So in my site, I am using Section layout as One column section where I set the custom Image.
Step 5: In page section, you can create a new page and set the Icon. Next to it’s your choice where you want to keep. You can set it as Menu or Sub Menu.
Step 6: In this section, there are already default CSS is available and there is a good feature here, Microsoft allows us to customize the CSS as per our requirement.
Once your customization is done, you have to save the page so that the new changes will reflect on the whole page.
Step 7: Microsoft also provided few templates which are commonly used in many organization like Profile, Access Denied, and Search, etc.
Step 8: In page layouts, you can add three layers and add different types of images plus contents.
Step 9: Once external users trying to log in, they have to sign in the application using a different type of credential or using Azure AD.
Step 10: Once the user login to the site, he can able to see the Home page like below.
There are many features that are available here like you can connect to different types of Services. And you can connect to Azure Ad.
