[Fixed] Cannot sign in to Skype for business because your computer clock is not set correctly

This tutorial we will discuss how to solve cannot sign in to Skype for business because your computer clock is not set correctly issue which comes in Skype for business.

Recently I was trying to login to Skype for Business, but when I open Skype for Business, it will try to connect to the server but it gave an error which says “Cannot sign in to Skype for Business because your computer clock is not set correctly. To check your computer clock settings, open Date and Time in Control Panel”.

I was getting the error in a windows server 2012 R2 machine.

Below are the things which I have tried to resolve the error “Cannot sign in to Skype for Business because your computer clock is not set correctly”.

• I tried to change the time zone of the system to various timezone in UTC format also.
• Adjusted the time according to the selected time zone.
• Selected Daylight saving time settings.

But none of the solutions did work for me.

But then I realized, the date in my laptop somehow changed to a future date, it was not set to today’s date. So I set the date to today’s date and it started working for me. I hope this small tip maybe will be helpful to someone.

To fix this issue, make sure that the computer’s clock and time zone settings are set correctly.

If the above approach did not work, then you can follow a solution that was mentioned in one of the Microsoft Forum. But I have not tested the solution. But you try it out, lots of people saying the below solution is also working.

• Open Control Panel and Start Windows Date & Time
• Turn OFF “Set Time Automatically”
• Go into Change Date & Time (manually) and hit the update button.
• NOTE – In my case, the time was already correct to the second as independently verified with my cell phone. So I hit the update button but didn’t change ANYTHING with the time or date.
• Go back to the main Date & Time screen
• Turn ON “Set Time Automatically”
• Now Skype For Business allows sign in with no error.

There is also another thing you can check if you are facing the same issue related to date and time settings.

If your computer time is not set correctly, then the user could not sign in.

To verify this, you can also check in the registry entries.

Go to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\MSOIdentityCRL location

And then check, ClockSkew DWORD value is present? If yes, then that might be the issue, a value of 300 represents a five-minute time difference, and this can cause the sign-in issue.
